Notice is hereby given that the local government of the Shire of Menzies has prepared the abovementioned local planning scheme and local planning strategy.
Local Planning Scheme
The purposes of this scheme are to -
- set out the local government’s planning aims and intentions for the Scheme area;
- set aside land as local reserves for public purposes;
- zone land within the Scheme area for the purposes defined in this Scheme;
- control and guide development including processes for the preparation of structure plans, precinct plans, layout plans and local development plans;
- set out procedures for the assessment and determination of development applications;
- set out procedures for contributions to be made for the costs of providing infrastructure in connection with development through development contribution plans;
- make provision for the administration and enforcement of this Scheme;
- address other matters referred to in Schedule 7 of the Act.
- A local planning strategy is a strategic document that:
- Local Planning Strategy
- a) sets out the long-term planning directions for the local government;
- b) applies any state or regional planning policy that is relevant to the strategy;
- c) provides the rationale for any zoning or classification of land under the local planning scheme.
Plans and documents setting out and explaining the local planning scheme and local planning strategy have been deposited at the Shire Office, Shenton Street, Menzies and at the Western Australian Planning Commission, 140 William Street, Perth, and will be available for inspection during office hours up to and including 2 July 2021. The documents can also be viewed online at www.menzies.wa.gov.au
Submissions on the local planning scheme and local planning strategy may be lodged in writing and should include the property affected and details of the submission and must lodged with the undersigned on or before 2 July 2021.
