Menzies Wangkatja Cultural Day! Wednesday July 1
Celebrating 50 Years of Deadly Menzies Community!

Leave Your Mark: The 2026 Legacy Banner

Everyone in the community is invited to Ngalipaku Rec Centre and lend a hand in creating the 2026 Legacy Banner—a collaborative masterpiece that will stand as a testament for decades to come!

Culture and Creation at the Town Hall

The celebrations kick off with a deep dive into rich Wangkatja culture. Head over to the Menzies Town Hall to get hands-on with traditional arts and painting. Whether you are an experienced artist or picking up a brush for the first time, it is a space to connect, learn and create.

Community Feast

Of course, no celebration is complete without incredible food. The Town Hall will also play host to a massive community feast. Come hungry, because the Menzies Aboriginal Corporation are in the kitchen serving up steaming bowls of traditional Kangaroo tail stew alongside fresh, hot damper and a sausage sizzle.

A Week-Long Festival of Sport and Fun

The Wangkatja Cultural Day is just part of a massive, week-long celebration. Menzies will be buzzing with friendly competition and entertainment for all ages, including:

  • Kids & Adult Badminton Tournaments: Monday 29 June & Tuesday 30 June 6pm

  • Community Movie Night: Grab a blanket, sit back and enjoy with family and friends. Wednesday 1 July 5pm

  • Mixed Netball: Lace up your sneakers for a fast-paced, fun-filled competition. Thursday 2 July 6pm

Come along, celebrate 50 years of a deadly Menzies community and help write the next chapter of our story!

Menzies Wangkatja Cultural Day NAIDOC Week Activity is delivered with funding support from the National Indigenous Australians Agency.
